This is ya boi, Christian The Poet and this is my Unsigned account. Based out of Providence, RI I began playing guitar about 11 years ago when I was 11. I fell in love with hip hop a few years later while living in Newport News, VA during middle and high school. I am always entranced with the rhythms and words of hip hop and have developed, over time, my own version of a hip hop-acoustic fusion that has been getting good feedback in this area. In the past year I feel, personally, that I have grown into myself musically with this fusion that was recently Influenced primarily by Ed Sheeran out of England. My hip hop influences include everyone from the Northeast culture of Mos Def, Jay-Z, Juelz Santana, Talib, and Busta Rhymes to the Southern greats such as Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Dolla, Wayne, T.I., over to the Midwest like Kanye, Lupe Fiasco, Eminem and countless others. All of these great artists have their hand in how I process and create my rhymes, rhythms and music. Along with hip-hop, I have frequented the open mics and competitions at AS220 and The Spot Underground in Providence, RI for rap as well as Spoken Word. It has been a blessing to be able to perform in front of an audience that has little ignorance and an open mind to the political, religious and opinionated proclamations that my Spoken Word and Rap pieces have to offer. On this Unsigned page you will hear recent recordings, live sets and spoken word performances. Basically anything I feel at the moment to put on display.
