This relatively new Omaha based four piece was initially conceived in early 2010 by guitarist Matt Anderson (formerly of D-Coy & Gauge) and bassist Jesse Otterson (formerly of Trippin Default). After the normal trials and tribulations of trying out other members the lineup became finalized with the addition of like minded musicians in drummer Geoff Marshall (formerly of Mandown and Eyes Catch Fire) and vocalist Lawrence Deal of Civicminded (formerly of Gauge). Together the band has forged a sound that is both atmospheric and aggressive blending musical experimentation with pop sensibilities while drawing on influences such as Dredg, Helmet, Failure, Glassjaw, Circa Survive, and Deftones. Since Cannonista’s debut performance in August 2010 the band has played several successful shows in the Omaha and Lincoln areas and has recently released their debut EP "Virga" and shot a video for the track, "Neon Lights." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvogIqyg-_A   

After Matt Anderson left the band in spring of 2011, guitarist John Claus (Paria, Secret Weapon) gladly stepped in to fill in the role as the band's primary guitarist.  Cannonista will be busy playing out in the summer of 2011.
